Taylor Swift has another live performance on the calendar, and it’s a special one.
Taylor will perform at the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala on Saturday, October 17, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. The museum announced the news today, and Taylor will close the evening.
Variety reports her set is likely to include “I Knew It, I Knew You,” her original song from Toy Story 5. The gala is a major stop for Oscar hopefuls, and an Oscar nomination for that song would be the first of Taylor’s career.
Amy Homma, the museum’s director and president, told Variety that Taylor is an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world, and that the museum is thrilled to welcome her.
Taylor will be performing for a room built to honor three film legends. Charlize Theron, the Oscar winner for Monster and star of Mad Max: Fury Road, will receive the Icon Award. Colman Domingo, a two-time Oscar nominee for Rustin and Sing Sing, will receive the Vantage Award. John Carpenter, the director and composer behind Halloween, will receive the Luminary Award, his first official honor from the Academy.
The gala is co-chaired by Steven Spielberg, Kate Capshaw, and Robert Rodriguez and presented by Rolex. It raises money for the museum’s exhibitions, screenings, and education programs. Last year’s honorees included Bruce Springsteen, Penélope Cruz, Walter Salles, and Bowen Yang.
It’s the latest highlight in a remarkable fall for Taylor, who made history at the MTV VMAs as the first-ever recipient of Artist Director Honors.
